Easter camping

|
We traded eggs, candy, and even bunny paraphernalia for our first camping trip. We headed north to Malibu Creek State Park, which feels amazingly remote for a fairly short drive; we hope to jaunt up there often. The new gear was great and we had fun setting up the tent and walking around the camp area. This was our tester trip to check out the campsite and see if we had everything we need. Next time we're bringing firewood so we can camp-out proper! Poor Zach forgot his jammies and was cold in his day clothes. I was nicely bundled in layers of fleece and stayed quite toasty in our giant sleeping bag.

What up, March?

To keep you up to speed, here's what's up...

Zach just returned victorious from the game conference in San Francisco where he was selected as a speaker. He said his talk was a big hit and that no one else there was offering the services that SOUNDAWG does! This is great news. We're excited to see what this enhanced exposure could mean for us and SD. I've been prodding Z to write a book, and several other people put this bug in his ear after hearing his talk. We all know that the best advice comes from anyone who's not your spouse, so maybe it will stick this time!

I had my last day at Irvine on Thursday. It was a great experience and I am actively looking for more teaching work. I had one interview last week and am polishing my materials to send out to other schools.

Also! Next week I start rehearsal for a project I am very excited about. My movement professor from Irvine is on sabbatical this spring and is directing a play in Los Angeles. Not just any play, but the latest work (read: world premiere!) of playwright Charles Mee. I don't expect anyone reading this to know who he is, but he is a big deal, and I love love love his work. I will be in the cast, and will also take on the new adventure of serving as assistant director. Many of the cast members are playmates from Irvine. I'm so in love with this project; just hope it turns out half as well as I think it will.

Christmas has come again!

|
We live in a city. We want to spend time out of the city. So. We asked for camping gear gift cards for Christmas, and we got 'em. We scouted equipment last month to get a feel for what was out there, but weren't quite ready to make decisions on what we wanted.

Enter REI outlet sale! Huge sale on many of the things we wanted. Below are the goodies that are coming our way, and we still have some change! Thanks Mom and Dad and Tom and Linda! Thanks, REI!
