At the Studio

A few months ago, we started a voiceover production company called SOUNDAWG. You can visit our website at www.soundawg.net to read all about it. We spent the last two weeks in the studio working on the video game Dawn of War II (www.dawnofwar2.com). It's been a real treat to work with some of the best voice actors in the industry and listen to their remarkable talent. These people can do things with their voices that you can't even imagine! Zach has been directing and training me to do the same. I'm including some pictures of the studio where we've been the last two weeks. It's called Sticky Notes, and is located in Hollywood. 

Behind the glass, you can barely see a music stand. That's the booth where the actor is and the recording takes place. It has a music stand for the script, a microphone, headphones, and a chair. It's small and soundproof; that's what the headphones are for. Once the actor is in there, he can't hear what's going on outside the room. If the engineer (the guys who uses all the equipment you see in the photo) or the director needs to talk to the actor, they push a little button that's like a speaker phone into the headset (or "cans") that the actor is wearing. The button looks kind of like a garage door opener, and the keeper of the button has great power. Zach loves the button.
